Alejandro Samplina Obituary, Deadly shooting breaks out in Twin Peaks parking lot

Alejandro Samplina Obituary – A 32-year-old man lost his life in a tragic incident that occurred in the parking lot of a Twin Peaks establishment in north Phoenix. The incident took place on June 15, around 9:20 p.m., near the intersection of 31st Avenue and Beardsley Road. Upon receiving information that a person had been shot and the shooter was still present in the vicinity, officers promptly responded to the scene.

According to the investigation, the victim, Alejandro Samplina, was allegedly shot and killed by Shannon Ritch, a 53-year-old individual. The altercation between them arose from a dispute over parking. Ritch informed the officers that Samplina had brandished a knife and pursued him around his vehicle.

In an attempt to defend himself, Ritch managed to retrieve his handgun from the open door of his car. As Samplina continued to approach Ritch in a threatening manner with the knife, Ritch fired a single shot, which tragically struck Samplina, leading to his demise. Phoenix Police Sergeant Mayra Reeson stated, “Ritch was able to retrieve his handgun from the open door of his vehicle. Samplina proceeded to walk towards Ritch with the knife in a threatening manner. In response, Ritch fired one round, striking Samplina.”

Samplina was immediately rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries. Ritch cooperated with the authorities, providing a self-defense claim that aligned with the accounts of witnesses and surveillance footage. Consequently, the police released him. The Phoenix Police have announced their intention to submit charges to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review. However, the exact nature of the parking-related dispute remains unclear.
