Simultaneously, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office was engaged in a pursuit of a vehicle near West Lane and East Alpine Avenue, which may have been connected to the Astor Drive shooting, located approximately three miles away. The pursuit concluded near California Street and East Harding Way, about a mile and a half southwest of West Lane and East Alpine Avenue. After the chase, officers took an 18-year-old male passenger, identified as David Perez, to the hospital due to a gunshot wound, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
