Chad Anthony Jacques Obituary, Man killed in suspected DUI crash identified

Chad Anthony Jacques Obituary – The man who was struck and killed by a car in central Bakersfield on the Fourth of July has been identified as 48-year-old Chad Anthony Jacques of Bakersfield by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

On July 4, 2024, at approximately 8:39 p.m., Bakersfield police responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Oak Street and 24th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jacques with severe injuries. According to the coroner’s report, he passed away at the scene. The drivers of the vehicles involved remained at the scene.

An investigation by the police revealed that a driver was heading northbound on Oak Street when they failed to make an eastbound turn onto 24th Street, resulting in the collision with Jacques, who was on the center divider. He did not survive.

The driver then struck several other cars before coming to a complete stop. One of the four drivers involved was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver who struck Jacques was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for suspected driving under the influence.
