Deputy Fernando Esqueda Obituary, – A search is currently ongoing for the individual responsible for fatally shooting a 28-year-old deputy in northeast Harris County overnight, as stated by officials. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez revealed the victim as Deputy Fernando Esqueda, a dedicated member of the Violent Person Task Force for five years.

Gonzalez expressed condolences to Deputy Esqueda’s family, friends, and colleagues, emphasizing his commitment to duty and ultimate sacrifice. The incident began with an aggravated assault at a Little Caesars Pizza, where a suspect, dissatisfied with his order, verbally abused the clerk, assaulted them with a gun, and fled the scene. Detectives were able to track the suspect’s vehicle to a specific location using the county’s Flock camera system. Deputy Esqueda, who was on duty following Hurricane Beryl, located the vehicle but was ambushed and fatally shot. The suspect, identified as Ronnie Palmer, remains at large, and the public is urged to provide any information on his whereabouts.
