Jamieson Ritter Obituary, Cleveland police officer killed was on duty

Jamieson Ritter Obituary – Cleveland authorities reported that Jamieson Ritter, a police officer from Webster, passed away after being shot and killed while responding to an assault call in Cleveland, Ohio. The incident occurred early Thursday morning when Ritter, 27, was shot by a suspect attempting to escape on a bicycle around 1 a.m.

The suspect, identified as Delawnte Hardy, 24, was apprehended and is currently in custody at a Cleveland area detention facility. Ritter, who graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester in 2015 and Syracuse University in 2019, was a four-year veteran of the Cleveland Police Department.

Ritter’s father, Jon, retired from the Greece Police Department in 2013. Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd expressed her condolences, acknowledging Officer Ritter’s sacrifice for the community. Despite the tragedy, she emphasized the importance of honoring Ritter’s memory and continuing to uphold his legacy. As of now, funeral arrangements have not been finalized.
