Joe Bonsall Obituary, Retired Oak Ridge Boys member is dead at 76

Joe Bonsall Obituary, – Joe Bonsall, a member of The Oak Ridge Boys, a renowned country music group, has passed away at the age of 76. Bonsall, who resided in Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on July 9, 2024, due to complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann, daughters Jennifer and Sabrina, granddaughter Breanne, grandson Luke, two great grandsons, Chance and Grey, and a sister named Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph S. Bonsall Sr. and Lillie Bonsall. In January 2024, Bonsall announced his retirement from touring, citing his neuromuscular disorder. Originally from Philadelphia, Bonsall had been a resident of Nashville for close to 40 years. He became a member of The Oak Ridge Boys in 1973.

Throughout his career, Bonsall was a 50-year member of The Oak Ridge Boys and a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He was honored with inductions into the Philadelphia Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Described as a talented individual, Bonsall was also an author of 11 books, with his latest memoir titled I See Myself set to be released in November. He had a passion for singing, reading, writing, playing banjo, working on the farm, and supporting the Philadelphia Phillies. However, his faith in Jesus and his family always remained his top priority. As per his wishes, Bonsall requested no funeral. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to The ALS Association or the Vanderbilt Medical Center ALS and Neuroscience Research Center.
