Mariam Jabateh Obituary, Girl identified after Antioch drowning on Fourth of July

Mariam Jabateh Obituary – Metro Nashville police have disclosed the identity of the 4-year-old who drowned on Thursday night in Antioch. Mariam Jabateh passed away after accidentally falling into a pool at an apartment complex on July 4.

The child’s mother informed officers that she had left her daughter sitting on the pool steps, playing and splashing water around. She mentioned that she was walking away to fetch her daughter a bottle of water when bystanders started shouting that the child was in distress.

On the evening of Thursday, officers informed WSMV4 that the girl fell into the pool after 7 p.m. at the Magnolia Apartments on Arbor Knoll Boulevard. A young man present at the pool rescued the girl and initiated CPR. Jabateh was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. Several individuals were present at the pool during the incident. Police stated that there was no lifeguard on duty at the time.
