Max Van Sickle Obituary – In Bellevue, early Thursday morning, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot by Metro Nashville Police. The incident occurred at the Bellevue West Apartments, where West Precinct officers were called to respond to a stabbing involving two brothers. The 27-year-old brother had been stabbed by the 25-year-old, who was later identified as Max Van Sickle. The victim described his brother as experiencing a “manic episode” during the 911 call.

According to the police, Max Van Sickle was armed with a large knife and aggressively approached the officers as he descended the stairwell of a West Nashville apartment complex. The officers, in response to the imminent threat, fired their weapons, resulting in Van Sickle’s death. The stabbing victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was taken to the hospital with wounds that are not considered life-threatening.

To provide transparency, the police released body-worn camera footage of the incident, along with the recording of the 911 call. These recordings also feature statements from MNPD spokesperson Don Aaron. Meanwhile, the three officers involved in the shooting have been assigned to routine administrative duties while the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducts an inquiry into the incident.
