Pedro Garcia Obituary, Death; Man dies in single-vehicle accident has been identified

Pedro Garcia Obituary, Death;  – The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of an individual.

The deceased has been identified as Pedro Garcia, a 45-year-old resident of Alamo. The tragic incident took place at midnight on July 4 along Interstate Highway 2 and FM 493 in Donna. Sgt. Maria Hernandez, the spokesperson for DPS, reported that a 2005 Nissan Armada, driven solely by Garcia, was heading westbound when it suddenly veered off the road for reasons yet to be determined.

The vehicle then proceeded onto the westbound IH-2 Frontage Road, where it collided with a wooden light pole. Subsequently, the Nissan overturned, leading to Garcia being ejected from the car as he was not wearing a seatbelt. Tragically, Garcia succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration highlight the importance of wearing seat belts, with a 45 percent reduction in the risk of fatality for individuals in the front seat of passenger cars and a 60 percent reduction for those in pickups.

It is crucial to adhere to Texas law, which mandates that all vehicle occupants must wear seat belts to avoid fines and court costs of up to $200. Additionally, children under eight years old must be secured in a child safety seat or booster seat unless they exceed a height of 4’9. Failure to comply can result in fines of up to $250, along with court costs.
