Raejonette Morgan Obituary, Woman fatally shot in bullet-riddled car in South LA identified; Family call for investigation

Raejonette Morgan Obituary, – Activists and the family of a woman have requested an investigation after she was discovered fatally shot in a bullet-riddled Mercedes-Benz at a busy intersection in South Los Angeles. The incident occurred at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday on Vermont Avenue near the 105 Freeway overpass, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon arrival, deputies found the woman, identified as 22-year-old Raejonette Morgan by her family, in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds. The vehicle displayed numerous bullet holes on the driver-side door and windows, and after the shooting, it came to a halt near a freeway entrance, attracting several onlookers. A witness at the scene streamed live footage on Facebook, showing deputies removing Morgan from the car and laying her on the ground.

A deputy examined Morgan to determine her injuries, and paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived shortly after. Despite being transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Morgan succumbed to her injuries on Thursday. In a statement released by activist Najee Ali on behalf of Morgan’s family and civil rights attorney Ben Crump, a full investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was demanded, citing the alleged inaction of a deputy who failed to provide aid to the victim.

The Sheriff’s Department has yet to respond to the accusations. Additionally, a meeting with Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff Robert Luna has been requested.
