Sarah Alden Obituary, Candlelight vigil set for woman who died from Venice Canals assault

Sarah Alden Obituary,  – A candlelight vigil is scheduled to occur on Thursday evening in Venice to honor the memory of the woman who tragically passed away after being brutally attacked and left in a coma for two months along the Venice Canals.

Sarah Alden, aged 53, was one of the victims who were sexually assaulted and beaten on Saturday, April 6. She remained in a coma following the attack and was taken off life support on May 24. A resident of Massachusetts and a mother of two sons, Alden was in the process of relocating to Venice at the time of the incident.

The alleged perpetrator, Anthony Francisco Jones, 29, was apprehended in San Diego a few days after the assaults and charged with multiple offenses, including murder following Alden’s passing. The first attack took place around 10:30 p.m. on April 6, where Alden was struck from behind with a blunt object, rendering her unconscious. Another woman was attacked in a similar manner about an hour later near the Sherman Canal but survived.

Friends of Alden described her as someone who cherished sunrises and sunsets, loved her sons and animals, and had a passion for vintage jewelry. At 53, she was looking forward to embarking on a new journey in life, but tragically, her life was cut short.
