Alexander Dillon Obituary, Death;  – The identity of the driver who tragically lost his life in a fiery crash off Spindle Hill Road on Saturday has been confirmed as 18-year-old Alexander Dillon, according to the family. Wolcott police reported that the crash also resulted in the hospitalization of the car’s four passengers, with one front seat passenger in critical condition.

The critically injured passenger was revealed to be Dillon’s 17-year-old brother, as stated on a GoFundMe page created by their aunt. The family expressed their devastation upon learning about the crash, describing it as their worst nightmare. Despite wearing their seatbelts, the accident was described as horrifically bad. Dillon was pronounced dead at the scene, while his brother was airlifted to Hartford Hospital and underwent surgery. The family has received overwhelming support, with over $24,000 raised on the GoFundMe page to cover funeral and medical expenses.

Wolcott police responded to the incident on Spindle Hill Road around 10 p.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a vehicle off the road that had collided with a tree. Dispatchers informed the officers en route that the car was on fire. Upon arrival, the officers discovered the car on its side, down a small embankment, and against a tree. The front end of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Two occupants had managed to escape the vehicle, while three others remained trapped inside.

A volunteer firefighter arrived and used a fire extinguisher to control the blaze, allowing one of the officers to rescue the remaining back seat passenger through the rear window. Firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire. The two front seat occupants had to be extracted from the vehicle and unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The three back seat passengers sustained severe injuries and were transported to local hospitals by ambulance.
