According to the New Orleans Police Department, Ussin was shot on Monday evening in the 300 block of Ptolemy Street and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from a fight at the playground involving a group of women, as captured in cell phone footage provided by Ussin’s uncle, Michael Willis. The video shows a physical altercation escalating, with one woman eventually brandishing a gun. Willis mentioned that his niece can be seen in the video using a substance against another woman, emphasizing that the fight was not random and highlighting the role of social media in perpetuating violence.
