Johanna Gonzalez Obituary – Authorities have identified a 17-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in a shooting incident. The incident occurred when she allegedly took a firearm from a deputy’s holster during an altercation at the Industry Sheriff’s Station, resulting in a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The shooting took place on Sunday evening at the station located at 150 N. Hudson Ave, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, Johanna Gonzalez from La Puente, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Her death has been classified as “suicide” with the cause of death listed as a “gunshot wound of the head,” as reported by the medical examiner’s office.  According to the sheriff’s department, the incident unfolded after deputies received a family disturbance call for service in the city of La Puente. The foster parent of the juvenile reported that she was experiencing a mental health crisis. Deputies responded to the scene, but the juvenile had already left on foot before their arrival.

At the time of the call, it was unknown where Gonzalez was headed. The distance between her La Puente home and the Industry Sheriff’s Station is approximately one mile. Around 7:40 p.m., Gonzalez arrived at the station and gained entry by knocking on the door. An altercation ensued, during which she managed to retrieve a deputy’s handgun, as stated by sheriff’s Lt. Art Spencer during a press briefing at the scene.
