Jose Manuel Clark Obituary – Des Moines police have identified a man as the victim of a fatal crash that occurred when he was struck by a pickup truck while walking on Sunday. The incident took place in the 5400 block of SE 5th Street, and authorities arrived at the scene shortly before noon. The pedestrian, now known as Jose Manuel Clark, 51, from Des Moines, was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

Andi Gael Cardenas, 23, from Des Moines, has already been charged by the police for his involvement in the crash. Cardenas is facing charges of homicide by motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and other misdemeanor traffic offenses.

According to the police, Cardenas had been involved in a hit-and-run incident that caused property damage prior to the fatal crash. He had run a red light at the intersection of SE 5th Street and Porter Avenue, colliding with another vehicle. Subsequently, he continued driving northbound and lost control of his vehicle, resulting in multiple collisions with various objects, including two trees. Finally, he struck the 51-year-old man who was walking southbound on the sidewalk.
