Katia Duenas Aguilar Obituary – Authorities are currently investigating the soldier’s death from North Texas as a homicide after she was discovered deceased on Saturday in a Tennessee residence near Fort Campbell.
Clarksville police officers were dispatched to an ambulance call around 8:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Tiny Town Road, as mentioned in a social media post by the department. Upon entering the residence, officers found a deceased woman, prompting detectives from the department’s special operations homicide unit to respond, as stated by police officials.
The authorities have officially classified her passing as a homicide and are actively conducting an investigation, according to the post. On Tuesday, the police identified the woman as 23-year-old Katia Duenas-Aguilar. She was a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell, approximately 5 miles northwest of the incident location.
Duenas-Aguilar, a native of Mesquite, was a member of the Army’s 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) serving in its combat aviation brigade, as detailed in a news release on Tuesday. The 101st Airborne Division is recognized as the sole air assault division within the military branch.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar,” stated Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, a spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell. “In the meantime, we will continue to collaborate with Army and local investigative authorities regarding this situation.”
The soldier from Texas was fondly remembered in various social media posts as a kind individual and a loyal friend. Duenas-Aguilar enlisted in the Army as an information technology specialist in 2018. Following her completion of basic training at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia, in the subsequent year, she reported to Fort Campbell. Situated just north of the Kentucky-Tennessee border, Fort Campbell served as her duty station.
Among her accolades and honors, the 101st Airborne Division noted that she received two Army Achievement Medals, an Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. Authorities in Clarksville have not disclosed any further details regarding her demise.
