Mario Tywan Martin Obituary, Suspect dies after high-speed chase ends in crash

Mario Tywan Martin Obituary – On March 21, the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office identified Mario Tywan Martin, 47, as a suspect in a domestic stalking case. An arrest warrant was issued for burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit another felony. Around 7 a.m. that Tuesday, patrol deputies spotted Martin and attempted to pull him over in Gladewater. However, Martin sped away into Upshur County on U.S. 271 with law enforcement in pursuit.

As the chase crossed into Upshur County, deputies tried to use tire spikes, but Martin turned back upon seeing them, evading the attempt. Martin then drove east on FM 726 and collided with a truck at the intersection of Texas 300. The truck’s passenger sustained minor injuries, while Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.
