Praveena Nordfelt Obituary, One killed identified, Two injured in I-5 crash
Praveena Nordfelt Obituary – One individual has passed away and two were transported to local hospitals following a head-on collision on Interstate 5 near Thornton on Wednesday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol’s online logs indicate that officers were sent to a section of the interstate close to Walnut Grove Road around 4:40 p.m.
It was reported that a woman driving a gray truck was heading north when, for reasons unknown, she crossed the center median into oncoming traffic. A semi-truck driver managed to avoid her by swerving. The woman struck the side of the truck before colliding head-on with another pickup truck. The woman, identified as 65-year-old Praveena Nordfelt of Fresno by the San Joaquin County Coroner and Medical Examiner, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Numerous motorists stopped to assist Nordfelt, with some providing a fire extinguisher and blankets for comfort, while others helped firefighters extinguish the fire caused by the crash. The incident caused traffic delays in both directions on I-5 for several hours, but all lanes were reopened by 7:30 p.m. The crash is currently being investigated.
