Linares was confronted by an individual who shot him, possibly during an attempted armed robbery. A neighbor reported hearing gunshots and witnessed the woman who had ordered the food attempting CPR on Linares, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to save him, Linares did not survive and was transported to a local hospital.
The neighbor recounted that the shooting occurred between the car and the house after the driver had called the woman to inform her of his arrival. Police and ambulance personnel arrived at the scene, but their attempts to revive Linares were unsuccessful.
