Angel Gabriel Cuevas Obituary – The individual who was fatally shot by law enforcement at an apartment complex on the North West Side has been positively identified. Authorities have confirmed that the victim is Angel Gabriel Cuevas, a 21-year-old who succumbed to his injuries.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday when officers were responding to an unrelated call and stumbled upon a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex near the intersection of La Cantera Terrace and Arco Vista.
To prevent the suspect from escaping, the two officers strategically positioned their patrol car to block the stolen vehicle’s parking space. However, Cuevas allegedly returned to the stolen vehicle and made an attempt to flee by driving over a curb.
As Cuevas successfully maneuvered over the curb, the officers claim that he then drove towards them in the stolen vehicle, seemingly intending to strike them. In response, the officers discharged their firearms, resulting in fatal injuries to Cuevas. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
