Ella Adler Obituary, Authorities identify boat operator in death of 15 years old Girl

Ella Adler Obituary – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has identified the individual operating the boat involved in the tragic incident that led to the death of 15-year-old Ella Adler. Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, of Coral Gables, was confirmed as the boat operator.

He was the sole occupant of the vessel on the day of the incident, as stated in the one-page incident report. The boat was found behind a residence in the Hammocks Oaks neighborhood in Coral Gables. Residents described the homeowner as a family-oriented individual and a skilled boater who was deeply affected by the events. Ella, the granddaughter of US Ambassador to Belgium Michael M. Adler, was water skiing with friends near the Nixon Beach sandbar when the accident occurred.

An extensive search was conducted to locate the boat and its driver, which led to the discovery of a vessel matching the witness descriptions. The boat is now in the custody of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, and the owner is cooperating with the authorities. The community came together to mourn the loss of Adler, with hundreds attending services at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach. First Lady Dr. Jill Biden visited the family in person to offer her condolences and support.

The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and assistance during this difficult time. Adler, a freshman at Ransom Everglades High School and a talented ballerina with the Miami City Ballet, was remembered fondly by her school community.
