Eric Diaz Obituary, 1 killed in head-on collision on I-35 near Edgerton Road
Eric Diaz Obituary, – The Kansas Highway Patrol received assistance from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation of a fatal crash that took place on northbound Interstate 35 near Edgerton Road. According to the KHP crash report, the collision occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.
The incident involved a southbound Jeep Gladiator and a northbound Freightliner tractor. The Jeep collided head-on with the semi, resulting in serious injuries to the Jeep’s driver who was transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, the second occupant of the Jeep, identified as 22-year-old Eric Diaz from Melbourne, Florida, was killed in the collision. The driver of the semi, on the other hand, did not appear to sustain any injuries.
Alongside the sheriff’s office and KHP, Johnson County MED-ACT crews also responded to the scene. The road remained closed for several hours and was reopened at approximately 12:45 p.m.
