Erin Jones Obituary, Student Fatally Shot at Off-Campus Party While Waiting for Uber

Erin Jones Obituary – A student from the University of Arizona lost her life during an off-campus party in Tucson over the weekend. The incident, which involved a shooting, resulted in injuries to three other individuals on Sunday, April 28, around 1:40 a.m. Law enforcement responded to the scene on the 3200 block of E. 5th St. following multiple 911 calls reporting the shooting.

Erin Jones, a 20-year-old student at the University of Arizona, was discovered outside the residence. According to CBS News, Jones was waiting for an Uber when she was fatally shot. She was taken to Banner University Medical Center (BUMC) in Newport Beach, Calif., where she passed away. Another woman found in a vehicle, a teenager, and an adult male were also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

Tucson Police Department stated that details are scarce, and investigators are actively looking into the circumstances leading up to the incident. They suspect that a large gathering occurred at the residence before the shooting, and several witnesses had already left the area by the time law enforcement arrived. A neighbor informed KOLD that there was a lot of noise and commotion, prompting them and other neighbors to check their cameras and observe kids running down Fifth Street and in the alley.

Many appeared to be seeking cover. Authorities believe that numerous University of Arizona students were present at the party. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Erin Jones was a graduate of Corona Del Mar High School, where she was a member of the soccer team. Jake Haley, the principal of Corona Del Mar Middle/High School, expressed his sorrow over the loss of Erin Jones, describing her as a well-known student on campus and an active member of the soccer community.
