Geoffrey Brittingham Obituary, Man killed, 7-year-old injured following crash at a construction zone

Geoffrey Brittingham Obituary – The Maryland State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic collision that occurred on Friday night in Carroll County. According to reports, the incident took place just before 11:30 PM as a 2022 Ford Explorer was traveling north on Emory Road near Cedarhurst Road.

Initial findings suggest that the driver failed to adhere to a closed construction zone near the North Branch Patapsco River bridge replacement project, resulting in a collision with a 2014 Volvo excavator and a Mack dump truck.

Authorities have confirmed that the construction zone was not active at the time of the crash. The driver of the Ford, identified as 41-year-old Geoffrey Brittingham from Hampstead, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Additionally, it was revealed that Brittingham’s 7-year-old son, who was seated in the back of the vehicle, sustained injuries during the accident.

He was subsequently transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for medical attention. No other casualties were reported at the scene. Officials have advised motorists to seek alternative routes such as MD-30 and MD-140 as the MD-91 bridge will remain closed for an extended period. The investigation into the incident is being spearheaded by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
