George Gilbey Obituary, Man arrested over Gogglebox star’s sudden death

George Gilbey Obituary – A man has been taken into custody in connection with the passing of UK Gogglebox personality George Gilbey. The well-loved television star passed away after a tragic incident at a warehouse yesterday morning at the age of 40. George was widely recognized for his appearances on the UK edition of Gogglebox, where he brought joy to countless viewers.

Alongside his mother Linda and stepfather Pete, he quickly became a favorite among fans when they joined the show in its second season in 2013. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that an arrest has been made as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. The police have stated, “As part of our ongoing inquiry into the death of an individual in Campfield Road, Shoebury on Wednesday 27 March, we have detained a man in his 40s from the Witham region on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.

This investigation is being conducted jointly with the Health and Safety Executive, and our efforts are ongoing.” Last night, while friends gathered at a local pub near George’s residence, authorities were present at the warehouse where the incident occurred. Scaffolding and temporary stairs were visible outside the premises. The cause of his passing was disclosed by the police yesterday. A previous statement from Essex Police mentioned, “We were informed of an incident at approximately 10 am this morning (27 March), in which a man working at a height fell and sustained an injury. The ambulance service, including an air ambulance, responded. Unfortunately, the man passed away at the scene.

We will continue to collaborate with partners, including the Health and Safety Executive. A cordon remains in place at the location.” Gilbey and his family were removed from Gogglebox in 2014, and following his participation in Celebrity Big Brother, he pursued a career as an electrician. In 2019, he was sentenced to three months in prison for driving under the influence, and upon his release, he secured a position at a warehouse. Close friends of the television personality shared that he had been diligently working to “make positive changes in his life for the sake of his family.” They expressed to The Sun, “No one should have to go through this at such a young age – 40 is too soon. He had begun going to the gym and putting in a lot of effort to provide for his family. This will deeply impact his family.”
