Jonathan Gagen Obituary,  – The Madison County Sheriff’s Department has released the identity of the individual who was fatally shot on the front porch of a residence in Collinsville. The deceased has been identified as Jonathan J. Gagen, 31 years old. According to the authorities, Gagen was shot by the homeowner after refusing to leave the property despite being warned.

The homeowner, fearing for his safety and that of his family, retreated into his home to retrieve his firearm and repeatedly asked Gagen to leave. However, Gagen allegedly attempted to enter the house by opening the storm door, prompting the homeowner to warn him that he would be shot if he continued. In an effort to protect his family, the homeowner fired one shot, striking Gagen in the chest.

The Collinsville Police Department responded to the incident and provided medical assistance until emergency services arrived, but Gagen was pronounced dead at the scene. The homeowner, who is related to a part-time employee of the Collinsville Police Department, has been fully cooperative with the investigation. Due to the potential conflict of interest, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department has taken over the investigation. It is worth noting that a man with the same name, date of birth, and hometown as Gagen had been reported missing by the Belleville Police Department on March 16. He was later found on March 18 and taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
