Mackenzie Smith Obituary, woman killed in fatal Mad River Twp. crash

Mackenzie Smith Obituary – On Saturday morning, a tragic single-vehicle crash occurred in Mad River Twp., resulting in the death of a 33-year-old woman. The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the victim as Mackenzie L. Smith from Carlisle.

According to the OSHP, emergency crews promptly responded to reports of the fatal crash at approximately 9:56 a.m. The incident took place on Interstate 675, between Interstate 70 and State Route 444. Smith was driving a Ford Fusion when she veered off the left side of the roadway, colliding with a traffic sign and causing the vehicle to overturn. As a result, she was ejected from the vehicle, which eventually came to a stop in the southbound lanes.

Tragically, Smith succumbed to her injuries at the scene. It is important to note that she was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol received assistance from various agencies at the scene, including the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Mad River Twp. Fire & EMS Department, Fairborn Fire Department, Fairborn Police Department, Clark County Coroner’s Office, and Shield Towing and Recovery.
