Kraven the Hunter; Movie faces another release date delay

Kraven the Hunter; – Sony’s Kraven the Hunter movie, a Spider-Man villain film, has faced another delay, almost being pushed back to 2025 by the studio. Initially scheduled for January 2023, then moved to October 2023, and most recently to August 2024, the movie is now set to hit theaters on December 13, 2024.

The film’s new release date coincides with the one previously reserved for Sony’s The Karate Kid reboot. This delay was caused by the prolonged production delay of Cobra Kai’s final season due to last year’s Hollywood strikes. With Daniel Larusso making an appearance, it seems the movie will continue the story from the TV series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio believes that the new release date of May 30, 2025, will better cater to the all-ages target audience. Kraven the Hunter will now be competing with Warner Bros’ War of the Rohirrim, an animated Lord of the Rings spin-off, which is also set to premiere on the same day.

Sony’s previous Spider-Man-related villain film, Madame Web, received a negative reception and poor ticket sales. Lead actress Dakota Johnson expressed her lack of surprise, criticizing the decision-making process in the industry and emphasizing the importance of authentic art over corporate influence.

Kraven the Hunter is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 13.
