Laith Masri Obituary, Freshman identified as victim in fatal Middletown crash

Laith Masri Obituary – A tragic incident occurred late Saturday night on North Verity Parkway in Middletown, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old Lakota High School freshman. The victim, Laith Masri from Liberty Twp., sustained multiple traumatic injuries in a one-vehicle crash. The Butler County Coroner’s Office has ruled his death as an accident.

Lakota School Schools, currently on spring break, expressed their condolences in a statement. They informed their families and staff about the availability of counseling and grief support during this challenging time. Betsy Fuller, the district director of communications, extended their thoughts and prayers to Laith’s family, friends, and other students involved in the accident. The crash occurred when the SUV, in which Masri was a passenger, collided with a pole on North Verity Parkway at Hughes Street. The vehicle then veered off the road and overturned in a wooded area. The accident took place around 11:15 p.m., and unfortunately, Masri was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other five occupants of the vehicle suffered injuries of varying degrees, ranging from minor to life-threatening. Two individuals were taken to Kettering Medical Center, while the remaining three were transported to the Atrium Medical Center. Authorities are currently investigating excessive speed as a potential contributing factor to the crash. The incident took place on a curve in the road, causing the vehicle to leave the road and enter the wooded area. Middletown police and the Butler County Serious Accident Reconstruction Team spent several hours at the scene conducting their investigation.
