Manfred Schmidt Obituary – The identity of the 64-year-old man from Springfield who lost his life in a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle on Thursday has been confirmed. The tragic incident occurred in the vicinity of Mansion Road and Curran Road.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported the motorcyclist from the scene to Springfield Memorial Hospital, where he was officially pronounced deceased at 12:17 p.m. The victim has been identified as Manfred Schmidt of Springfield by Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon. According to the autopsy results, he succumbed to blunt force injuries sustained during the crash. The Sangamon County Coroner and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
