Robert F. Hughes III Obituary – A Saratoga man, aged 73, passed away due to injuries sustained in a collision earlier this year in West San Jose, as confirmed by authorities on Monday. The man, identified as Robert F. Hughes III, was driving a sedan on Saratoga Avenue when he rear-ended a Lexus SUV that was stopped in traffic near Moorpark Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.
Despite being taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and being stabilized, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on April 22. The Santa Clara County medical examiner concluded that the injuries from the crash were a contributing factor to his death. The driver and passenger of the Lexus SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police. This incident marks San Jose’s 14th fatal collision of the year.
