Sgt. Erik Gajate Obituary, – Tech. Sgt. Erik Gajate, hailing from Gilbert, Arizona, has been identified as the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a crash at McConnell Air Force Base. The incident occurred on March 31, around 4:20 p.m., in the vicinity of 47th Street and South Woodlawn Boulevard.
According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Gajate was riding a Honda motorcycle at a significantly high speed on 47th Street South when he veered across the center line and collided head-on with a Buick Lacrosse. McConnell Air Force Base acknowledged Gajate’s invaluable contributions as an instructor at the 373rd Training Squadron, Detachment 8, where he trained crew chiefs for the KC-46A Pegasus and KC-135 Stratotanker. He joined the base in 2015. To honor his memory, a memorial service has been scheduled for April 4 at 9 a.m. It will take place at the on-base chapel.
