Yolande Overton,Rodney O Neil Harris Obituary – One of the individuals who lost their lives in a recent crash in Goochland County was a resident of Nelson County. The incident, as reported by the Virginia State Police, took place at approximately 10:45 p.m. on May 24 along the 2500 block of River Road West, situated to the east of the intersection with Maidens Road.
The collision involved a 2009 Volkswagen New Beetle traveling westbound and a 2014 Honda Accord heading eastbound. The Volkswagen driver, Yolande Overton, aged 62 and from Richmond, and the Honda driver, Rodney O’Neil Harris, aged 47 and from Faber, both succumbed to their injuries at the crash site. Authorities have determined that Overton lost control of her vehicle while navigating a curve, causing her to veer off the left side of the road.
In an attempt to correct her course, she crossed into the eastbound lane, resulting in a tragic head-on collision that neither driver could avoid. Overton was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, while Harris was not. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated by the authorities.
