Ahmad Maher Al Marrach Obituary – The victim of the homicide that occurred outside a Halifax mall on Monday has been identified by the police as Ahmad Maher Al Marrach, a 16-year-old. Responding to a call just after 5 p.m., officers arrived at the scene in a parking lot near the Halifax Shopping Centre. The injured teenager was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
On Tuesday, Halifax Regional Police announced that two youths who had been apprehended on a Halifax Transit bus in the vicinity of North Street, approximately 20 minutes after the initial call, have been released without charges about the case. The police have not disclosed the specific cause of Al Marrach’s death.
Halifax Mayor Mike Savage expressed his condolences for the youth’s passing during the regional meeting of the council on Tuesday. Before a moment of silence, he acknowledged the tragic loss and urged everyone to keep the young man’s family in their thoughts.
