Eileen Crawford,Ryder Shoup Obituary, Death; – On Thursday, the family and authorities identified the individuals involved in the tragic head-on collision on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista. The deceased have been identified as Eileen Crawford, a 67-year-old woman, and Ryder Shoup, a 16-year-old high school student.
Eileen Crawford was driving a Honda Civic and entered the southbound lanes of I-5 near the San Ysidro Port of Entry off of Camino del la Plaza around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. Tragically, she traveled in the wrong direction for six miles before colliding with a Dodge Challenger driven by Ryder Shoup, who was a new father and attended Mar Vista High School. According to Francisco Beltran, a neighbor and close friend of Crawford, she was undergoing radiation treatments for cancer and occasionally experienced moments of forgetfulness. Nancy, Francisco Beltran’s sister, mentioned that Crawford would sometimes become disoriented and drive in the wrong direction.
However, the California Highway Patrol has not yet determined the cause of the accident. The news of Ryder Shoup’s passing quickly spread on social media, with his close friend from JV Football being among the first to learn of the tragic event.
