Joel Montalvo Obituary, – The El Paso County Coroner has identified the good samaritan who tragically passed away on I-25 over Memorial Day weekend as 64-year-old Joel Montalvo. The incident occurred near the MLK Bypass on May 26, when a driver going southbound in the northbound lanes collided with another vehicle. Montalvo stopped to assist the victims and was fatally struck while crossing the highway. Described as caring by his family, Montalvo, a Navy veteran, was on his way back to Fort Collins from Arizona after visiting his mother on Sunday morning. In order to cover his unexpected funeral costs, his family has initiated an online fundraiser.
