Paul DeMoura Obituary, Arrest has been made in hit-and-run crash that killed pedestrian in Dighton

Paul DeMoura Obituary – Michael Laboy, 19, from Providence, Rhode Island, was apprehended on Thursday afternoon at his workplace in Taunton in connection with the hit-and-run incident that led to the death of 57-year-old Paul DeMoura in Dighton, Massachusetts, last week.

The Bristol District Attorney’s Office confirmed the arrest. Dighton police were alerted to the incident on April 4 when an off-duty Taunton police officer reported seeing a man in the breakdown lane on Route 44. The victim, identified as DeMoura, was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where he succumbed to his injuries. It was suspected that DeMoura was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene while he was walking on Route 44 westbound.

The arrest was carried out by the Massachusetts State Police, in collaboration with Dighton police, following an investigation into the crash. Laboy is scheduled to appear in Taunton District Court on Thursday afternoon to face a charge of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
