Raven Martin Obituary, Woman killed in South Memphis shooting identified by boyfriend

Raven Martin Obituary – A male and a female both perished following a burst of gunfire in South Memphis on Monday afternoon. The woman was identified as 36-year-old Raven Martin by her boyfriend in an interview with FOX13. The fatal shots that took Martin’s life were fired at the intersection of Mississippi Boulevard and EH Crump Boulevard around 12:35 p.m. on April 8.

FOX13 personnel present in the vicinity covering a separate shooting incident heard rapid gunfire and were the first to reach the location of the tragic shooting. According to the Memphis Police Department, the man passed away at the scene, while Martin succumbed to her injuries at the hospital several hours later. Authorities mentioned that a two-year-old child was also wounded and was in critical condition at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital as of Tuesday. Delvin Lane, a native of South Memphis and the executive director of Bloc Squad, an organization dedicated to steering young individuals away from violence, emphasized that gun violence is a persistent issue in the community.

He urged individuals not to harm innocent bystanders by randomly firing shots on streets like Danny Thomas, stating that such actions are not commendable. FOX13 personnel at the scene observed a maroon car with at least three bullet holes in it. The shooting incident occurred an hour after a man was discovered deceased just a few blocks away near the intersection of Danny Thomas Boulevard and Mississippi Boulevard. A nearby high school was put on lockdown temporarily, but the restriction was later lifted, as confirmed by MSCS to FOX13. Memphis Police did not confirm any connection between the two shooting incidents. MPD urged anyone with information regarding either of these shootings to contact Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
