Ciara’s connection to sports goes beyond her marriage to Denver Bronco quarterback Russell Wilson, as revealed during her appearance on the PBS series “Finding Your Roots.” While reviewing her ancestry results with host Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Ciara expressed her surprise when she discovered that Derek Jeter was her “DNA cousin.” The show explained that Ciara and Derek share a long identical stretch of DNA on their 14th chromosome, which Derek inherited from his mother.
Ciara shared the clip on her verified Instagram account, expressing her gratitude to Dr. Gates for the incredible experience of learning about her family genealogy. It is worth noting that Ciara and Derek Jeter recently became cousins again when Ciara gave birth to her fourth child, a daughter named Amora Princess Wilson, in December. Her other children include daughter Sienna, 6, and son Win, 3, with her husband Russell Wilson, as well as her nine-year-old son Future Zahir, whose father is the rapper Future.
