In an episode of the “Smartless” podcast, Gomez expressed that she believes she has one more album left in her. As she grows older, Gomez finds herself yearning for stability and a singular focus. She revealed that her true passion lies in acting, and that is where she ideally wants to direct her energy.
Interestingly, Gomez’s journey into music was not initially planned. It all began when Disney approached her to create an album while she was starring in the Disney Channel sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place” in the late 2000s. She saw it as a fun hobby, never intending to pursue singing full-time. However, her hobby quickly transformed into a successful music career. Since 2013, Gomez has released three studio albums, featuring popular hits like “Come & Get It,” “Same Old Love,” and “Lose You to Love Me.” In 2022, she received her first Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album for her Spanish-language EP “Revelación.” Recently, she released her latest single, “Single Soon.”
Aside from her music endeavors, Gomez has also made a name for herself in the acting world. She gained early fame through “Wizards,” and currently stars in the critically acclaimed Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building” alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin. She has also appeared in movies such as “Spring Breakers” and “A Rainy Day in New York.” Balancing both music and acting has taken a toll on Gomez, especially considering her struggles with mental health. In her 2022 docuseries “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me,” she openly discussed her mental health challenges. While Gomez acknowledges that she is not obligated to choose between music and acting, it seems that she is leaning towards prioritizing her acting career in the future.
